Moving from a monolithic architecture to a multi-agent architecture, how to address verification and validation of such a complex system? This is what we are currently investigating in the V&V subcommittee, with a focus on the interplay of the different automated components, consistency of data and features.

The scope & purpose of the Verification and Validation Subcommittee is to increase awareness and understanding of the relevance of verification and validation in drilling systems automation. The results from the work done in the Subcommittee will be available publicly to benefit Oil & Gas Operators, Drilling Contractors, Service Companies, Original Equipment Manufacturers, Component Suppliers, Professional Organizations, Academia, companies outside oil and gas and Consulting Organizations.

The goals of the group are:

-- Provide an adequate glossary for terms relevant for Verification and Validation in the context of automated drilling systems.

-- Develop definitions, provide recommendations on how to achieve verification and validation when multiple automated functionalities are involved in automated drilling systems.

-- Investigate and define a conceptual framework for formal verification of consistency in data and features when multiple automated functionalities are involved in the context of automated drilling systems.


Note: It is not the goal of the Verification and Validation Subcommittee to qualify the different advisors/models in automated drilling systems.
